Guess What? I'm Not Dead!

The title of this post pretty much says it all. Sorry it has been so long, friends. I had some things that I needed to do. Like change my life. That particular activity has occupied a lot of my time over the past year.

I quit my job and enrolled in grad school. This necessitated a little move of, umm, 350 miles. I live in central New York now. And you know what? I'm a lot happier than I used to be. I finished my first semester today, and I'm probably driving back to D.C. later this week for winter break. I think I might actually miss my new home over the holidays. (I will most definitely NOT miss the weather here, though.)

I haven't updated this blog because I struggle with how much to share or not share on the Internet. Some people who read this should really just pick up the phone and call me, while others don't know me and don't deserve to know every detail of my life. (Don't take this the wrong way -- some of you are lovely people and I'm glad I met you via blogging. It's the lurkers that creep me out.)

I just don't feel comfortable sharing everything with everybody. I realize that sharing is kind of the whole point of blogging, so I've been keeping things to myself lately. Maybe I will change my mind and come back to blogging. Maybe I won't. But for now I just wanted to pop in to say hello, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and all that jazz. I hope you had a terrific 2008, and I wish you the very best for 2009.
